IRS audit and CP2000 help. Don't sign anything yet.

A CP2000 or audit letter isn't a final bill. It's the IRS asking questions, and how you answer matters. We review what the IRS is proposing, gather the right documents, and respond for you.

How we fix it

  1. 1

    We review the letter

We check what the IRS is questioning, what it's proposing, and your deadline. Many CP2000s give you about 30 days to respond.

You: upload the IRS letter. Don't sign or return anything yet.

  2. 2

    We build your response

We go through your records, figure out where you agree and where you don't, and organize the documents that support your return.

You: share the records we ask for.

  3. 3

    We represent you

We respond to the IRS for you, handle follow-up questions, and pursue an appeal if the result isn't right.

You: skip the IRS meetings. We go instead.

What we handle

CP2000 noticesResponses to income mismatch notices, including partial agreements when only part of the change is correct.
Correspondence auditsAudits by mail, where the IRS asks you to support specific items on your return.
Office and field auditsIn-person audits, where we represent you so you usually don't need to attend.
Audit appealsTaking a disagreement to the IRS Independent Office of Appeals.

What it costs

  • The consultation is free, with no obligation.
  • One flat fee, agreed in writing before any paid work starts.
  • No surprise invoices, and you never pay the IRS through us.

The outcome depends on your records and the IRS's review, so we can't promise a result. We'll give you an honest read on your position upfront.

Common questions

Is a CP2000 an audit?

Not formally. It's an automated notice that your return doesn't match what others reported to the IRS. But it works like one: if you don't respond, the IRS will assess the proposed tax.

Should I just agree and pay?

Not before checking. CP2000s are sometimes wrong, for example when income was reported twice or the IRS doesn't know your cost basis on investments you sold.

Do I have to meet with the IRS?

Usually not. With your signed authorization, we can represent you and handle the IRS for you.
